At Colegio Gran Bretaña, parents are important. Many volunteer to help out in school by organising activities, helping with reading and giving support to individuals and small groups in the classrooms. The parent-home partnership is evident throughout. Teachers keep close communication with parents through the home-school book, through which parents and teachers can send messages to each other on a daily basis.
Homework is monitored through the homework diary so that parents know what has been set and when assignments are due to be handed in.

The Parents’ Association at Colegio Gran Bretaña exists to support the work of the school, to develop a community spirit among its members, and to raise extra funds for special purchases.
Events supported by the Parents’ Association in recent years have included Bingo Supper, Quiz Night, Christmas Concert, and other social gatherings. Welcoming coffee mornings are held from time to time to enable new parents to meet each other as well as existing parents. A regularly published letter is sent home with each student to keep parents up to date as to the goings on of the Parent Association.
The Committee of the Parents’ Association consists of six parents (elected annually) and one teacher. Elections are held in June for the following school year. Regular meetings of the Committee act as a possible channel for comments and queries from parents to the school. There is an annual membership fee per family.
Another link between parents and the school is through the “Consejo de Padres”, which is composed of three elected parents who represent each academic level: Foundation Stage and Key stage 1, Key stage 2 and Secondary. The Consejo de Padres has the following functions:

Parents at the Welcome Breakfast organised by the PTA
On Thursday 30th August, the PTA prepared a Welcome Breakfast for the new families. Many of the new families showed up and had a lovely time; they had the opportunity to meet part of the PTA members and school staff. In a very diverse and friendly environment we met parents from Bolivia, Canada, U.S.A., Mexico, Brazil, Malta, Trinidad, France, and Persia among others.
