During Book week, various activities were carried out related to literature and language, these involved all members of the school community: students, administrative and staff members.
One main activity led by the librarians was the Book Fair. This year, we invited different publishers including Editions Malibu, Fondo de Cultura Economica, Follett International and Anaya. These companies provided literature - educational and informational material in both English and Spanish.
There was also an activity designed for KS2 students called Cross Word Puzzle. This game tested their knowledge of books and authors. It was awarded to one student from each year.
The activity for KS1 pupils was organised by the librarians and the Art department. It was called ILLUSTRATE ME. This activity was divided into two categories. For students in Year 1, the activity was to create an illustration for a children’s book called SWIMMY which is written and illustrated by Leo Lionni. The results were simply amazing! The children illustrated the main character and the situations he had to face in an individual and creative way.
For students in Year 2, the activity involved creating an illustration for a book cover.
The competition winners were:
BEST BOOK ILLUSTRATOR
Year 1 C: Mariana Gazzara
Year 1S Joaquin Fernandez
BEST COVER ILLUSTRATOR
Year 2S Ruby Kramer
Year 2D Claire Bath and Javier Cremer
Many thanks must go to Camila Gallego for her unconditional support and cooperation. Also many thanks to the general services staff for helping organise the multipurpose centre where the book fair took place.
Finally, many thanks to parents for being part of this event.
